Ep316: Building and Monetizing Your Community with Award-Winning Entrepreneur and Founder of Bump Club and Beyond Lindsay Pinchuk
June 20, 2022
Over 10 years ago, Lindsay only had one problem she wanted to address. She was pregnant with her first child and there were no existing networks of pregnant women to run to for support – aside from that one place giving prenatal yoga classes at 5 pm. As a working woman, it was impossible to catch the train to the location in time.
Lindsay started putting up her own events – a place where moms can meet, connect, and find community through their motherhood journey. 50 people attended the first two. Clearly, there was a gap that needed to be filled.
With just $500 in her pocket and a baby on the way, she quit her job and focused on growing her company, Bump Club and Beyond. Over 10 years later, the brand has reached over 3 million people and sees $1.2 million in revenue each year.
“An audience is a group who sits back and consumes, a community is a group who shows up and engages.”
The Pillars of the Community-Building Process
Feedback
Communities are born out of shared needs. Lindsay says putting your community first is imperative to building a network of people who will stay involved. Listening to the needs of the people and following through with well-thought-out solutions is a sure way to keep everyone engaged.
Connection
During Bump Club and Beyond’s earlier years, Lindsay did not realize that the company has grown to its size because of her honesty, personality, and experiences. Sharing her daily triumphs and struggles as a mother built an organic connection between her and the followers of her brand. It helped that she was adamantly against taking money from brands that she doesn’t personally recommend.
Partnerships
The bread and butter. Partnerships are key to the success of your business. In order to successfully merge audiences and mutually benefit through the partnership, companies must create connections only with entities that match their values.
Lindsay has since sold her company and now runs a consulting business offering Big Impact Marketing for Small Business Bootcamps. Only for our avid listeners, she will be providing a 1-hour coaching session on social media marketing and community-building solutions to help you navigate your way through your business problems.
