Before crushing the eCommerce business, Carina wanted to be a professor teaching business in a college. While she was getting her degree, she took a job as a helpdesk coordinator for about two and a half years. Little did she know that that job was preparing her to be the 7 figure eCommerce store mentor coach that she is now. Her experience of helping people with technical stuff over the phone, especially the non-tech-savvy, has helped her develop patience at work.
Couple that with perseverance that was again tested when the company she used to work for downsized. She was forced to pack her belongings and leave. But she saw that as an opportunity, a perfect time to start the dream boutique she’s always dreamed of.
“I think that if I were in that position of just starting out again, it’s very, very overwhelming and scary. But if you break it down and do one thing at a time, and do it consistently, it works wonders.”
And that is exactly what she did to get to the 7 figure.
How to Success in the World of eCommerce
- Be consistent. If you find something that works, you keep doing it, and then you do more of it. Once you have that nailed down, you add another thing and another, so you’re always getting better.
- Build relationships but also stay emotionally detached. You cannot let other people rule your emotions. Don’t let other people determine your business plan for you. You will encounter plenty of unsolicited advice in the process. Remember, just because one person doesn’t like what you’re doing doesn’t mean you’re wrong.

- Figure out who your customer is.
- Figure out where you’re going to get your products based on that.
- Get a website
- Get yourself out there in front of people
The Basics of Scaling Your Business
- Finding what works and doing more of that.
- Focus on your top products.
Her story reminded me of a saying from Ryan Howard that says, “Experience comes with a price, however, the knowledge obtained is priceless.”
