About a week ago I started writing this song in between a rehearsal. @adamburkettmusic was tuning the guitar and this song started flowing out acapella. Today we started writing on it again. The song is about being in the dark and having a friend, lover, or the creator grab your hand and through their love show you the way out. I’ve definitely had some down days recently and am grateful for all the love that keeps surrounding me 💕

In case you haven’t heard my new Ep, Portal is out on Spotify! When I wrote these songs I was in a big transition. They each become expressions of a re-birth cycle as I moved through grief, loss, and pain through the portal to who I was being called into. It was a big shedding process, a death of myself in many ways. ✨
✨
It feels fitting to release these songs now as I feel as a collective many of us are in a similar cycle.
Our world is dying. Both literally and in how we have known it. The pain and suffering is real. We are being asked to release all of that which isn’t really important, to let go of all the noise of who we have been, to be met with extreme, challenge, fear, loss, hardship, and uncertainty. ✨
✨
At the same time we are also being asked to collectively come together in ways we haven’t before. To co-evolve in community. To support each other, to innovate, to create, to slow down, to reflect, and to choose. I see this as a collective uprising, a re-birth. I don’t think any of us know what is going to happen next but I do know that we will all emerge differently, together, on the other side. ✨

Tomorrow is the day! Portal will be out on all platforms. When I wrote this album in 2018 it was an expression of what was on my heart in that moment. I was fresh out of a breakup and in the process of reinventing my next expression. During that time on 8.8.2018 that there was an eclipse, the third of that season, where the lions gate portal happened and I felt like I reimerged on the other side. Right before I popped through I wrote this song, Monsters, which was the culmination of my internal battle with being in the dark. It feels like such a fitting time almost two years later to release these songs. Collectively being invited through the dark into a portal this time 🕊
