Admittedly not tech-savvy, Heather demonstrates just how much you can achieve if you push yourself beyond the boundaries of what is conceived as possible.
Heather’s passion for immersive storytelling began when she started bringing Holocaust remembrance exhibits to Jewish Community Centers within the country and the United Nations. In awe of these peoples’ stories, she found her life so enriched by the conversations she had with them. It occurred to her that her kids will not be able to have this experience, so she looked for ways to replicate the actual exchange in a way that could last for generations to come.
We know about avatars, deep fakes, and edited videos. StoryFile is immensely different as it is powered by Conversa, an AI engine that drives the platform. It is AI, but more human and ethical. The goal is to allow future generations to converse with people who have pre-recorded their videos through this technology – be able to ask questions and receive answers as if they were in the same space talking with each other. Voice intonation, body language, and facial expressions are all captured. Nothing that the subjects say is altered and actual narratives are preserved.

Having no tech background came as a blessing for Heather. Without prior knowledge of Artificial Intelligence or even Computer Science, she didn’t know the limitations of the technology available at the time. Heather just kept pushing people to explore and discover ways to make things happen. Eventually, even her team was surprised to have come up with solutions that they didn’t even think were possible.
Oftentimes, we are confined by what we know and fail to push ourselves beyond what is thinkable.
